Full Glaucoma Screening & Diabetic Eye Exams

Glaucoma screening and diabetic eye exams essentially follow a standard examination with additional tests performed and a far higher degree of focus on the structures which can be affected by these conditions.

The use of drops during such an examination is commonplace, but these drops do not all necessarily have an adverse effect on vision. Again, eye pressure will be checked and a photo of the eye advised in certain cases. Fastrack Referrals for Cataract & Other Eye Disease

For patients who have diabetes and cataract, our optometrists here have undergone specialist and additional training to enable us to refer direct to the surgeon and into the hospital environment. This dramatically improves the speed by which the eye will be examined and treated and thus improves the likely visual outcome after treatment or surgery. For cataracts especially, we can refer directly onto the waiting list, bypassing appointments with the GP and surgeon. This reduces waiting times significantly.
