About Spectacular Opticians

We are a friendly, family run business providing a high quality, personal service by Optometrists who are both experienced and qualified. We have practices across Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk in Ely, Downham Market, March, Chatteris and Newmarket, all of which provide our full eye sight and eye care services as well as contact lenses and an extensive range of glasses and sunglasses.

Stuart Gibbs qualified as an Optometrist in 1987 and opened the first Spectacular Opticians branches in March and Downham Market in 1989. Building on their success, the Newmarket branch was opened in 1993, the Chatteris branch in 1998 and the Ely branch in 2000.

Stuart runs the business along with his two brothers, Gareth, an Optometrist and Martin, an Ophthalmologist. (Martin qualified as an eye surgeon in 1987 before joining Spectacular in 1989).

The College of Optometrists is the Professional, Scientific and Examining Body for Optometry in the UK, working for the public benefit.

The General Optical Council's aim is to protect the public by promoting high standards of education, conduct and performance amongst opticians.

The Association of Optometrists is a professional body ensuring that interests are represented both on the High street and at Governtment level.
